We recently visited a new customer in St Helens to demonstrate powered wheelchairs. Whilst visiting the lady mentioned she had the start of pressure sores appearing, which were getting very sore for her on her bottom near her coccyx area, as she was mainly sat in her old powerchair most of the day, on a standard cushion.
We advised the Ultimate Healthcare Pressure Relieving coccyx cut out cushion for up to medium risk patients as this would alleviate the pressure completely on her coccyx boney area, and therefore help heal the ulcer before the skin deteriorated any further, or worse, became a full open ulcer.
The lady purchased the cushion.
We have just spoken with her today, only 3 weeks later to check in on how she was doing, and the lady is over the moon - the sore has completely healed! Fantastic news.
