Compact powerchair with comfy seat

Built around a durable aluminium frame, this powerchair supports users weighing up to 120 kg (18.9 stone) and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. When it's time to fold the chair, it gets into a compact size and the weight comes down to 14.6kg, which is light enough to load into a car.

What matters to most people is whether you can lift it yourself, you can get out and about without having to rely on someone else. The aluminium frame folds down in a jiffy and fits neatly into a car boot, a hallway cupboard, or the corner of a room.

Two 200W brushless motors give you a smooth drive and the 10.4Ah lithium-ion battery will take you up to 8.7 miles (14km) on a single charge. In the real world, that's plenty of range for a proper day out. If you've got longer routes you want to tackle, you can always add in a second battery and roughly double your range. Plus the battery is airline-approved.

You can either charge it on the chair itself or take it off and charge it somewhere else. If you live on the upper floor and don’t want to bring the whole chair indoors every night.

Folding powerchair with a small turning radius

Inside the house is where the Astrolite really comes into its own. The 103cm (40.6") turning radius means you can zip through standard doorways and around furniture without having to do a series of three-point turns, which is just the ticket in a normal-sized hallway, kitchen or bathroom.

The flip-up footplate gives you room to get in or out without any hassle, and the flip-up armrests let you pull up to a desk, dining table or kitchen worktop. No more leaning forward over the arms. It's the little things like that which decide whether a chair feels like a help or an obstacle when you use it every day.

You control the Astrolite with a joystick controller on the armrest, which gives you super fine control in tight spaces. If you'd rather have a carer or family member take over, you can get an optional attendant controller fitted to the push handles, which they can use to steer in busy areas or when you're feeling tired.
